Thanks for this, Barry, and I agree with your horror at the change in our senior senator. The only caveat for me is, I don’t blame his age. I give him full responsibility. I think holding on to power has removed any vestige of moral clarity.

I hope I'm wrong, but it appears to me that Senator Grassley has something in his background that he would rather not be divulged. His gratitude of having President Trump's endorsement several years ago and his reluctance to question how more tariffs will likely have a negative impact on our Country's prosperity are also cause for concern. The original Trump Tariffs destroyed sales of Soybeans to China and China now buys from Brazil, where labor costs are much lower and they no longer need us as a supplier. Mr. Trump promised 'big oil' that if they helped him win election, he'd do away with mandates. One large mandate is Ethanol in gasoline. Half of Iowa's corn production goes for Ethanol, with several companies processing it. C'mon Senator, use your wisdom to be a Statesman rather than a 'yes' man.

In the ethanol business, nobody wins! Farmers need to adjust to growing food, not fuel! The water that is needed to produce alcohol reduces drinking water for both livestock and humans, the amount of Nitrogen fertilizer being used to create these big yields to supply corn for ethanol already is reducing the available clean surface water as well as drinking water for major cities in Iowa, as does the amount of herbicide/pesticide dumped on the ground. Unless of course, you would like to turn this country into what happened to the Inca's or the Lao, and have whole civilizations vanish because they too knew better how to handle their land! So if he truly was a statesman as you would want, he wouldn't favor your idea of making money while destroying agriculture!

I think you read my comment incorrectly. I WANT Senator Grassley to be a thoughtful statesman, weighing the pros and cons of decisions that affect ALL Iowans. Former Governor Branstad is involved in a carbon capture pipeline that will become moot if President Trump keeps his promise. I view that as a scheme to satisfy EPA requirements at the expense of Iowans, both monetarily and using imminent domain illegally to benefit a private concern.

Mr. Piatt's questions, while one or two appear somewhat 'loaded", deserve asking. I will take 2 and write the Senator.. probably questions 5 and 6.

Similarly, I have written Sen. Ernst about her budget cuts. As with Barry, asked questions.

Thanks, Ralph! Good idea. Please share the reply with us when you receive one.

Remember when Bruce Braley asked if we really wanted an Iowa farmer overseeing the Justice Dept? Do you think he had a point???

Kash Patel and Trump are embarrassments. If appointed, he will go after journalists. See the letter Olivia Troye's lawyer sent in response to his attorney threatening to sue her for a well-publicized story about his lying to SOCOM about Nigeria's approval to use their airspace for a mission.

George Conway has proposed establishing a fund to combat the lawsuits coming to all.
