I agree with you on this. I don’t understand why all of the media focus on one candidate, and it is not the criminal, but the one with a wildly successful term behind him. Thanks for your focus on this, Barry. Well done.

I agree with you, Virginia, but I also believe that pretty much all media these days are in the dog-food-fight under the evening dinner table for views, reads, ratings and what the bosses of those media orgs set as the end-all parameters. In sum, they went for the low-hanging fruit. Yes, they reflected the starkness of the debate’s missteps, but it served a dual purpose in my opinion to pour fuel in a way that would assure a bonfire of continual headlines throughout the ensuing daily news cycles. Leave it to Barry to put a fine point on what truly matters, and what’s ultimately at stake.

It appears that pretty much all the news media has succumbed to the low-hanging fruit of the debate snafu, but for their own selfish reasons of ratings on the hamster wheel of continual news headlines. They infer somehow that we should hitch our political choices to a utopian sense of perfection, but perfection in this world doesn’t exist, and such efforts only serve as a mudslide to conceal the good that has been done. The choice in November couldn’t be any clearer as Barry illustrates.

Like few others can tell it these days, or will drop their monetary selfishness to speak what they should very well know is the truth, Barry is that unselfish individual who time and again has spent his entire professional life shining the spotlight on what truly matters—-and that is this country’s democracy that’s ultimately at stake.

We can and will debate for decades the last four years but that is not the issue--the issue is the next four. IMHO, with Biden (or Harris!) leading the ticket prepare for unified Republican government for the next four, and while "democracy" will survive just fine it will be un-necessarily stressful and contentious.

This car crash an be avoided if Grandpa gives up (or has taken away from him) the keys. Give voters what they want--an alternative to both these men in the form of a competent Democratic candidate of which we have no shortage. We need an open Democratic convention.

Thank you!!

I like your analysis typically, Barry, but this comes across as whistling past the graveyard.

Biden is in very obvious and accelerating physical and mental decline. It is beyond irresponsible for the Democratic party to move forward with him for another four years.

Bravo! Thank you for not perpetuating the media double standard.
