Grassley’s been a hack for a long, long time. To expect otherwise from him at this stage is pissing in the wind. I did, however, get a laugh out of “ Adopt a Justice”...... great imagery there and pretty funny. 😂
Greedy Grassley and his family have received more than $1.7 million in direct USDA subsidy payments. He loves the government gravy trough. SCOTUS? Not so much.
"Farming the government" is an essential part of the business plan for all aspects of Iowa's agricultural and rural economy (seeds, planting, harvesting, marketing, manufacturing, chemicals, ethanol, etc. etc.) and we are fortunate to have representation and reputation at the federal level that personally and politically understand and promote this. Grassley and kin can certainly be singled out here, but for praise not disparagement.
Greedy Grassley and the filthy farmers insist on huge ethanol subsidies and mandates which now consume about half of the corn crop and a substantial portion of the soybeans. The crop husbandry practices result in soil erosion that renders the approach unsustainable. Meanwhile, Iowa’s surface waters are hopelessly polluted with nitrates and pesticides. Large portions of the Gulf of Mexico are dead through much of the year. Assertions that intensive row cropping provides economic support for rural communities ease easily refuted. Most rural counties have lost population for over a century. As farming becomes more intensive, small communities die. Greedy Grassley and the filthy farmers will commit whatever environmental atrocities necessary for them to make a buck.
I used to have a modicum of respect for Grassley. His legacy is now quickly approaching the odiferous equivalent of a riverbank carp laying in the summer sun. Sad. Just sad.
